There are many degree options, however they all have foundation courses that cover fundamental concepts like supply chain management and operations, procurement and transportation networks inventory management and warehousing. Some universities also offer specializations like e-commerce and retail logistics, transportation and logistical analysis, global logistics management, and many more.
Graduates are now ready to take on roles such as supply chain management and logisticians. They could also work in roles such as purchasing agents, industrial production managers and distribution managers. They may also seek certifications such as the Certified Supply Chain Manager (CSCM) or the Certified Public Contract Manager (CPCM) to enhance their career prospects.
In addition to the courses offered be sure to consider whether the university is accredited by an institution like the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation which recognizes 8,200 universities and 44,000 programs. Look for a university with high student-to-teacher ratios, as it will ensure that you receive quality education.
Some colleges offer hybrid or online courses which combine classroom instruction with virtual learning opportunities. This type of program may appeal to those who have an affluent schedule or are unable to attend traditional classes. Some online-only programs offer associate or certificate degrees and others offer master’s or bachelor’s degrees.
